With server data from versions earlier 3.3

In data from old server versions, subsecond sampling results in incorrect chart timestamps

VSD reads data generated by statmonitor, which is part of the GemStone/S 64 Bit server. In server versions earlier than v3.3, statmonitor writes samples as if they were taken at 1 second intervals, even if the argument to startmonitor specifies a subsecond sample rate.

VSD cannot detect that these timestamps were not actually one second intervals, and timestamps in the charts will be labeled incorrectly.

With GemStone/S 64 Bit 3.3, subsecond timestamps are written to VSD, and VSD versions 5.0 and later will display accurate timestamps.

Workaround

When using subsecond samples and analyzing the resulting data, you must remember the sampling and adjust the time offsets manually.
