copydbf of a compressed gzip file fails

Copydbf of a compressed gzip file fails with the following error message:

    unix> copydbf extent0.dbf.gz  extent0.dbf

    GemStone is unable to open the file extent0.dbf.gz.
    No disk I/O error information is available.

Workaround

Uncompress the file using gzip first.
