GemStone does not like a space in its directory name

A space character in the GemStone directory name causes problems in
various places where the GEMSTONE environment variable is expanded,
with the result that certain programs may not start or execute
correctly.

Workaround

Install GemStone in a directory that does not contain spaces in
its path. For example, avoid the directory "Program Files".
