Very slow restore of compressed tranlogs
Restoring compressed tranlogs is unusably slow; the restore is doing excessive seeks due to a prematurely cleared buffer. This affects tranlogs compressed both gz and lz4.
Tranlogs are always written in uncompressed form, but may be compressed using copydbf, gzip or lz4. Compressed tranlogs can be restored directly from the compressed version, without first uncompressing.
Workaround
Decompress the tranlogs, and restore the uncompressed versions.
