GemConnect

1.1.6, 1.1.3, 1.1.2, 1.1.1, 1.0

Solaris, AIX

Using a stream after database shutdown sometimes produces an illegal size error

On Solaris and AIX, using a stream which has been rendered invalid by
a database shutdown sometimes produces an illegal size error. For
For example:

"Error 2238 For class String the size -10688 is illegal."

This occurs because Oracle does not indicate an error when GemConnect
attempts to get data from the database after it has been shut down,
thereby causing invalid data to be created.

Workaround

No workaround or patch is available at this time.
